France therefore presides over one of the seven EU institutions on behalf of the 27 Member States for six months. Almost 400 events are planned throughout the country during the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (FPEU).

The Research Unit on Chronic and Emerging Risks (UPR CHROME) is a research team accredited by the University of Nmes. It brings together about fifty people and has two main objectives:

- The study of phenomena linked to the emergence and/or chronicity of risks and their management, both at the scientific level and in terms of their consideration in decision-making and in public, media and political debate, using cross-disciplinary approaches (technological and human and social sciences).

- Support for informed decision-making on emerging and chronic risks for the safety and well-being of populations.
